Darryl Baskerville
principle organizer, G4J
Darryl Baskerville, is a principle organizer with Greensboro4Justice. Born and raised Greensboro, North Carolina Darryl grew up around community activism, and understands the immense importance of service to community. Darryl's mother founded and ran a non-profit for improving the educational experience for poor and underserved youth, and a grassroots organization to assist ex-prisoners merge back into society. Darryl's paternal grandfather founded a non-profit and community organization in New York that focused on improving the quality of life for Long Island's Native American and Black populations.

After graduating from Grimsley High School in 2000 Darryl signed a contract with the United States Marines for six years. During his service Darryl received 4 meritorious promotions, and in 2003 served as a Multi-Channels Equipment Operator for a M.A.S.S. (Marine Air Support Squadron) during Operation Iraqi Freedom. In 2006, after serving out his contract honorable, Darryl moved to San Diego, California. He attended San Diego City College earning an A.A. in Behavioral Science and the University of California, San Diego where he earned a B.A. in Socio-Cultural Anthropology with a concentration in Chinese Studies. While attending UC-San Diego Darryl was an active member of the Universities Black Student Union (BSU) and sat on the executive board of  the union as the Retention Coordinator. Darryl was also active and supported the university's Anthropology Club, the LGBT Student Center, as well as numerous other organizations and clubs. In 2012 Darryl was positioned as the Regional Student Organizer for the San Diego branch of Organizing for America (OFA). In that position Darryl worked with high school, and university students to form campus phone banks and canvassing groups, and mobilized 30 residents in San Diego to travel to Las Vegas, Nevada for GOTV (Get out the Vote). 

Among his titles Darryl considers himself to be a student, educator, social activist, justice advocate, community builder, and culturalist.
